The Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli that is traceable towards the Western part of India comprises of 2 districts: Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In terms of area, the union territory occupies over 490 square kilometers; and area-wise, Nagar Haveli is larger in area than Dadra. The capital city of the union territory is Silvassa.
As part of the development initiatives, the Union Government of India constituted an Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the region. The ITI in Silvassa was established in the year 1976 and has 2 types of training schemes: Craftsmen Training Scheme and Apprenticeship Training Scheme.
The Union Territory Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, the Government of India, is the managing body of the ITIs in the district. An array of engineering and non-engineering trade programs are conducted at the training center for serving the technical education needs of the district’s youth population. Though, the norms that govern vocational education in the country are drawn by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) that acts as the advisory body.
