The Union Territory of Daman & Diu comprises of 2 districts: Daman and Diu. Both districts are separated by around 700 km from one another and are traceable near India’s Gujarat state. To promote development in the union territory, the Government of India set up Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the districts. The ITI in Daman was established in the year 1978; in Diu, during the year 1981.
The Union Territory Administration of Daman & Diu, the Government of India, governs the vocational training centers in both districts. A variety of trade courses are offered at both the district institutes. However, all the educational facilities at the centers are in accordance with the norms laid down by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT), like the rest of the other Indian states.
Some students prefer to pursue vocational education as compared to continuing with school studies. For catering to these educational needs of the aspirants, the Union Government of India constituted vocational training centers across all the states in the country. Also, the students can avail the option of Apprenticeship training after completion of the trade programs.
