In India’s Manipur state, the body that governs the functioning of the skill training centers at the national level is the Directorate General of Training (DGT), the Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship, the Government of India. However, the state government is entrusted with the responsibility of the administrative functions of the vocational trade courses. The Central Government frames the policy decisions of the vocational training; while the respective state governments have to implement the given training schemes. The National Council of Vocational Training advises the governments on the conduct of the trade programs.
The aspirants have a wide choice in engineering and non-engineering trades that they can pursue at Manipur’s government-based Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and private-based Industrial Training Centers (ITCs). However, the varied courses have different eligibility norms and only if eligible, applications must be tendered.
The Government of India unveiled the Craftsmen Scheme in the year 1950 to provide technical knowledge to the country’s youth. The trade courses are a suitable alternative for those students who are more interested in technical know-how, and not continue with conventional studies; in turn, they can earn their living. Moreover, the industries having shortage of skilled labor benefit due to the availability of skilled manpower.
Manipur NCVT ITI
In Manipur, like the rest of the other Indian states, the vocational trade courses are conducted in 4 semesters i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones. The pupils have to appear for the semester exams that are held at the Manipur centers.
