The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) is responsible for technical education in India’s Sikkim state that is traced towards the Northeastern part of the Country. Since the year 1998, the DTE has been running operations under the Human Resource Development Department and has made much progress in the field of technical knowledge over the years. As per the guidelines of the National Council of Vocational Education (NCVT), the DTE manages the administrative affairs of the skill training centers.
In Sikkim, like the rest of the other Indian state, vocational training is conducted through the government-financed Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and self-financed Industrial Training Centers (ITCs).
The Union Government of India launched the Craftsmen Scheme in the year 1950 to provide technical knowledge to the aspirants who want to become proficient in vocational trades. Presently, there is a choice of over 150 trades (including both engineering and non-engineering ones) to select from. Moreover, the option of Apprenticeship Training can, also, be availed by the job-seekers, after successful completion of the courses.

The vocational courses are rendered in 4 semesters and the students have to appear for the semester exams. They can download their examination results of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semesters on visiting the official site of NCVT, https://ncvtmis.gov.in/Pages/Home.aspx.
