In the Northeastern part of India, the Tripura state is traceable. Like the rest of other Indian states, Tripura hosts a number of government-financed Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and self-financed Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) to impart vocational education and increase the availability of skilled labor for the rapid development of the state and country.
The Department of Industries & Commerce of the Government of Tripura has administrative control over the skill training centers. Though, the National Council of Vocational Training, which is headquartered at New Delhi, is the body that frames the policies of the vocational trade courses that are held in all Indian states.
In the state of Tripura, during the year 1958, the first ITI was constituted by the Government of Tripura at Agartala. Subsequently, going by the success, more centers were set up in the state’s various districts.
After completing the courses, the job-seekers can enroll in Apprenticeship training programs as well. Upon successful completion, they are conferred with Apprenticeship certificates and can approach the employment exchanges for jobs in the respective trades. Thus, they can become financially independent and contribute to the country’s progress.
